WHY MobSTR?

Your third-party risk strategy
needs to include your apps.

Assess the software your people install, the access it requests and the business processes that depend on it.

See it in action

Include the applications people use every day.

Mobile apps, browser extensions and third-party applications inside Microsoft Teams can be overlooked when organisations assess their suppliers. These applications can introduce software dependencies, access to information and data-handling responsibilities of their own.

Bring them into the same risk conversation as the services and suppliers on which your organisation relies. Include iOS and Android apps, Chrome and Edge extensions, and the third-party apps people add to Teams.

Store approval is one part of the decision.

Marketplace checks provide useful assurance. They do not determine whether an application is appropriate for every organisation, dataset or use case. A listed app can still have findings that require investigation or controls in your environment.

Microsoft validates Teams Store submissions and provides administrators with tools to review app permissions and consent. Your review should consider the particular access and functionality an app needs, alongside the publisher’s security and privacy evidence.

Judge the risk in its business context.

Consider what data the app can access, how it is configured, who uses it and how important it is to the business. The same finding may lead to different decisions in a low-sensitivity workflow and an environment supporting patient care, financial transactions or essential public services.

For an application the business depends on, the review may identify a need for mitigation, restricted access, further supplier evidence or closer monitoring. Record the reasoning and revisit it as the application or its use changes.

Turn findings into decisions you can explain.

MobSTR brings application analysis, security ratings, privacy evidence and monitoring into a workflow for security, risk and compliance teams. OpenGates adds assessment of third-party Microsoft Teams apps; InterroPol contributes privacy-policy intelligence.

Use the findings to support approval and remediation decisions, document oversight and give leadership a clearer view of application exposure. Findings should be interpreted against the assessed version, configuration and business use.
